GeoServer is an open source geospatial web server that allows users to share and edit geospatial data. It publishes data using open standards, and provides a gateway to access geospatial data on the web. Recent versions have included many new features such as improved KML support, REST configuration capabilities, advanced rendering options, support for more database and raster formats, and an updated user interface. Future plans include additional database integration, support for multidimensional datasets, and new capabilities like a web processing service.
