1. Travel the World With GVC
Where will your classroom
collaborate this year?
This email comes to you as a reminder that our web design contest
entry deadline is fast approaching.
The Contest is broadly divided into 4 phases: application and team
registration, getting acquainted, website planning, web authoring and
review. Teachers must register before September 30, 2011.
We all know how quickly time 'vanishes' at the beginning of the school
year, so don't delay; register today!

Also view and share with your colleagues the winners from previous
years!
Learn about other cultures, travel virtually
anywhere, anytime. Students become more
independent thinkers, effective collaborators,
eager learners! What more could school offer?
Middle School students have said: "It's the hardest thing I've ever
done, the most fun I've ever had, and the most I've ever learned in a
class!"
After applying, teachers receive an invitation to join our Teachers
Lounge Wiki and will be able to choose one partner starting Sept. 15th,
then be matched with a third partner and registered as a team by
October 1-3, 2011. Teachers who create winning web sites will receive
$1,000 and an award plaque, second place winners will receive $500
and an award plaque, and third place winners will receive $250 and an
award plaque. All students will receive a certificate of participation.
Merit award winners will receive software from Tech4Learning.
2. We would also like to introduce our new Project Director for the Global
Virtual Classroom Clubhouse. Marsha Goren, retired teacher of 31
years, and award winning teacher for her work with Global Dreamers.
Ronda Zelenzy-Green will continue her outreach efforts in all parts of
the world and help with one on one Clubhouse partnerships.
Applications for the GVC Clubhouse are accepted year round and can
be accessed at: http://www.virtualclassroom.org/applicationclub.html
Current Clubhouse projects are: Peace, Great Thinkers, and Regions.
You'll find these on our Clubhouse Wiki, and can add to them any time
during the year.
