The beginning of Fall semester I began working with collaging. I am including these because I feel my work may be moving back in this direction.
Working with the magazine page, allowing it to converse with the images I placed upon them, working together
I began to move away from the figure to explore other subject matter, and started working on the beds Dealing with thoughts on memory, dreams and eventually the idea of time. A theme that I have identified throughout my work.
I have become more interested in the manipulation of light and color palette
Studies of space Exploring the medium and light Gaining a better understanding of how to manipulate paint
Working with spaces and light Influences¨C Hopper for this use of the interior and windows and light, Fischl for not only the scale of this paintings but also the light, specifically in his most recent portraits (2008), Odd Nerdrum and his limited color palette and manipulation of light as well Overall I would like to continue to explore the use of light and interior spaces with the figure as a means of exploring concepts of time. Documenting seemingly mundane moments, instances where it appears as if activity has just occurred, or is about to occur intrigues me.
