Hawaiian housing is too expensive for the 7,220 homeless people in the state. The current solutions include affordable housing projects and organizations like the Affordable Housing and Homeless Alliance that receive government funding and financial aid. The article proposes a solution of "work for rent" programs and developing tiny home resorts to further address the high cost of housing.
#6: I propose that the government fund or help fund in a combined effort with the community, a tiny home resort. At this park we could fit many houses in a very small space. The homes could be made of a very high quality but at a low cost.
When a homeless person moves in they are expected to pay their rent through working for the resort. This would provide them with jobs and housing and help empower them to be independent.
