Hospital	Ambulance	Bay	Cleaning	–	March	2020.
Occasionally	the	Hospital	Ambulance	Bay	-	EMS	Supply	Carts
are	pulled	out	and	the	floor	cleaned.

Hospital	Ambulance	Bay	Cleaning	–	March	2020.

The	tops	of	the	EMS
Supply	Carts	are	also
occasionally	cleaned.
By…
WHY?
Hospital	Ambulance	Bay	Cleaning	–	March	2020.
I’ve	heard	Mop	Bucket	Water	referred	to	as	‘Chocolate	Milk’.
What	is	the	protocol	for	changing	the	water	in	the	mop	buckets?

This	Bucket	was	at	the	PLC.
Dirty,	dry	and	full	of	Garbage.
This	Bucket,	broken	mop
handle	and	raggedy	mop
were	at	the	RGH.
In	the	IFT	Bay.
Hospital	Ambulance	Bay	Cleaning	–	March	2020.

Foothills	Hospital
EMS	Supply	Room.

Why	isn’t	this	being
cleaned	by	the	Hospital
on	a	regular	basis?
Hospital	Ambulance	Bay	Cleaning	–	March	2020.
Yes,	this	is	how	it’s	supposed	to	look. ALL	THE	TIME.

So	don’t	wonder	why	the	halls,	vacuum	and	mop	buckets	aren’t	clean.
This	is	how	we’re	taught	things	are	supposed	to	be.
Hospital	Ambulance	Bay	Cleaning	–	March	2020.
So	when	crews	walk	into	a	station,	see	the	desk	and	floor	haven’t	been	cleaned,
garbages	aren’t	emptied	and	there	are	blankets	everywhere…	they	think	it’s	normal.
Hospital	Ambulance	Bay	Cleaning	–	March	2020.
This	picture	was	taken	on	April	13,	2019…	at	the	PLC	Hospital	Ambulance	Bay.
It’s	not	a	new	problem	and	it’s	been	reported	to	EMS/Hospital	Mgmt	multiple	times.

The	picture	below	was	taken	at	the	Airdrie	EMS	Station	on	September	4,	2018.
It	looks	almost	exactly	the	same	today…	so	yes,	it	is	a	chronic	problem.
Hospital	Ambulance	Bay	Cleaning	–	March	2020.
This	should	be	enough	to	convince	anyone	that	something	needs	to	be	done.

I’m	not	even	going	to	go	into	how	dirty	our	Ambulances	are, over	the	years	I’ve
collected	enough	evidence	to	illustrate	that	problem	in	a	separate	document.

There	is	some	good	news. In	an	email	sent	last	week	to	the	Air	Medical	Crews	it	was
mandated	that	hall	cleaning	at	their	YYC	office	be	done	daily. It’s	a	start.

Also,	the	water	in	K	Bldg	at	Fleet	Services	MSD	will	be	turned	on	again	tomorrow!
VESST	Staff	and	Crews	will	be	able	to	WASH	THEIR	HANDS,	fill	a	mop	bucket	and
clean	their	vehicles	to	help	protect	our	Mechanical	Team	Members.

I’ve	offered	solutions. Dozens	of	times.
They’ve	all	either	been	rejected	outright	or	received	anemic	support.

So	I’m	going	to	continue	to	do	what	I	can
to	improve	cleanliness	in	all	four	of	our	workspaces.

The	Ambulances,	Hospital	Ambulance	Bays,	K	Bldg	and	the	EMS	Stations/Offices.

Any	help	or	suggestions	would	be	most	welcome.
