To blur the background in a photograph using bokeh, you need your subject close to the camera and background far away. Then use a low aperture number between 1.4-5.6 for a shallow depth of field. This creates a small focus area and blurs the background. Put the camera in AV mode so it sets shutter speed and ISO while you control aperture for the blurred background effect.

3. What to do:
You are going to need your subject close to you
Your background as far away as possible
And
A low aperture.
(aperture should be a number like 1.4, 2.4, 5.6¡ as low
as you can get it.) By using a small number you have a
small focus.
You will need to find the right shutter speed ISO or set
your camera to AV mode in order to have the camera
set everything but the Aperture for you.
