2. First- some dinosaur
Did
facts!
you know? Triceratops and T-Rex
shared the same home the forest of
North America 65 million years ago.
This would mean that the T-Rex may
have preyed on the triceratops
although, with their horned head, the
triceratops would have put up a big
fight.
3. 1. Look the part with T-REX FEET!
If you are stuck, ask an adult to help
you, especially with the glue and cutting.
What youll need:
tissue boxes
duct tape
paint
kitchen sponge
Wood glue/glue paste
4. Instructions
1. Your tissue boxes must be empty.
2. Use duct tape to reduce the size of the opening and to
reinforce the ankle area, seen below.
3. Cover the exposed duct tape inside the box with more
tape.
4. Paint the boxes in any way you like! But remember to
let them dry.
5. Cut 6 claws from a kitchen sponge and make them
triangles. Wet the sponge to make it easy for you to cut!
5. Dino-Fact Time
Did you know? Along with Stegosaurus and Tyrannosaurus Rex was
one of three dinosaurs that inspired the Godzilla Movie.
6. Fossil cookies- because you have to
snack too.
Ingredients:
1 cup walnuts, toasted
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
Salt
2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons icing sugar
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Insects and dinosaur plastic figurines
7. How to make them:
Grind the nuts in a food processor until they are fine. Then put them in a
bowl and use a whisk to mix in the flour and 遜 tsp of salt.
Beat the butter, sugar and vanilla with a mixer on high speed until it
looks pale and fluffy. Then beat the mixture on a low speed. Add the
walnuts.
Make balls out of the dough. They should be about 4 cm big. Then press
them into stone shapes with your palms. Its okay if they look weird,
stones are not perfect! Then place them on a lined baking sheet.
Dust the figurines in flour and use them to make fossil shapes in the
dough. Freeze the dough for 20-30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Once hot, put the cookies in
the oven for half an hour and let them bake until they look golden brown.
Then put them a wire rack to cool down.
Now they are ready to be eaten.
8. Dino-Fact Time
Did you know? The only way we have of learning about dinosaurs is
by studying fossils. Fossils are the remains of ancient animals and
plants, the impressions of living thing from past eras. With
fossils, we can even see what they were doing! Fossils have been
found on every content on Earth.
9. Stegosaurus Puppet Show
With all the information you have learned about dinosaurs, why not hold your
very own dinosaur puppet show? You could even get someone to record it for
you on video and post it up on Youtube.
You and your friends can split into groups and create your own shows and
perform them for each other. Before you start scribbling down ideas, here is how
to make your own stegosaurus dinosaur puppet.
What youll need:
Socks of any colours or patterns you like
Googly eyes, you can get these from sewing shops
Red and black felt fabric
Different coloured pieces of felt
Scissors
Glue
Drinking glass
10. Instructions
Put the sock on your hand and wiggle it around so you can make the dinos mouth with
your thumb.
Cut a piece of red felt in a triangle and make that the tongue. Glue it in place.
Glue the eyes on the sock on the top of your hand.
Cut out to small circles of the black felt to make the nose. Put the nose just below the
eyes.
Cut out triangles of any colour felt you like to make spikes for your dinosaur. You will
need 2 triangles for each spike. Glue the tops of the triangle together and leave the
bottom part open. This will allow you to glue the spike on the sock so it doesnt fall
down.
Put some glue on the part of the sock where you want the spike to go and then press
the spike into place. Repeat until you feel your dinosaur has enough spectacular
spikes.
Cut a bit of the top of your sock to make 2 arms for your dinosaur. Shape the arms and
glue them on each side of the sock.
Let the glue on the dinosaur dry by placing him/her over the glass to dry.
11. One more fact and then it is partytime!
The Stegosaurus brain was the size of a walnut! And scientists
believe this herbivore swallowed rocks to help mash up food it ate
hundreds of kilograms of tough plants a day!
