This document provides a high-level overview of Hadoop and big data concepts for DBAs with SQL experience. It introduces key big data terminology like the four V's of big data, and discusses how Hadoop uses HDFS for distributed storage and MapReduce for distributed processing at massive scales. Example use cases like word counting are demonstrated using both SQL Server and the Pig framework in Hadoop.

The document describes an app called Diamonds that helps girls ages 11 to 25 pair clothing. The app allows girls to type what items they want to pair together when getting ready for school or special occasions. It aims to provide a guide for pairing outfits to solve the common problem of not being able to find matching clothes. The app includes wireframes and a mock-up design, and its creators believe it could be successful because it helps girls develop their personal style and look good in all seasons, as well as supporting future fashion designers.

The potty finder app helps people with bowel and bladder problems locate the nearest public bathroom when away from home to prevent accidents. The app uses GPS to find bathrooms near the user's location and would be helpful for someone on vacation who forgets their medication and needs to use the bathroom but is far from home. It allows users to sign in or connect via Facebook and see bathrooms in their area that have been mapped in the app's database.
The document summarizes a mobile app that helps users stay organized. The app (1) reminds users when it is time to organize by reading reminders aloud, (2) will not turn off the voice commands until the user organizes, and (3) provides up to 10 video lessons or guides to help the user organize. The app aims to help every person learn how to keep organized at all times.
Our team is developing a mobile app called Never Miss The Bus (NMTB) to help students and teens avoid missing the bus using an alarm and locating nearby buses. The app would be useful for people taking buses to school or work in the morning by providing schedules and alerts to ensure users do not arrive late. By offering bus location tracking and timely notifications, the NMTB app aims to reliably help people never miss the bus again.
This document describes a mobile app created by Team Helping Hands to help people with short term memory. The app can be used by elders, adults, teens, and kids to help them remember tasks and appointments. It allows users to input reminders of things they need to do or places they need to go, and will then remind them of those items later on. This document describes a mobile app called "Hands Down" that is being developed to help drivers ages 15 and older avoid texting while driving by allowing them to use voice-to-text or text-to-speech functions. The app aims to reduce distractions for drivers by allowing them to send and receive messages without taking their eyes and attention off the road. It will have a main screen with the title "Hands Down", option to select a language, and continue button. The goal is to make driving safer for both drivers and pedestrians by keeping drivers focused on the road rather than their phones.
The document describes a proposed mobile app called Sparkle that will help women ages 18-25 make smart fashion decisions. The app aims to provide fashion designs and advice to help users find the right outfit and boost their confidence. It will include wireframes of the app design and be easy to use on modern technology. Research found that many women lack self-confidence due to poor fashion choices, and the app could help lower this percentage by assisting ladies in need.
