Editor's Notes

  1. Last January I had a teeny sale though my instagram and I had an insane response. Bigger than any sale to date. I decided that I was going to put more effort into instagram. I started noticing that 10k followers was a tipping point of sorts, once people got to 10k, their followers grew quickly. I made a goal to hit 10k by the end of the year. On December 28th 2012 I got my 10k th follower. I now have 34k follwors and since january 2012, our business has doubled 6 times. We are on track to do 10 times the amount of sales that we did last year and I attribute this all to Instagram Marketing.
  2. Just like blogging, you need to establish your voice on instagram. Your voice includes, the amount of pictures that you post per day and what sort of pictures that you post It took me a long time to find my voice and what finally helped was mapping out our week and keeping my pictures consistent. Your pictures should all have the same look and feel. Take stock of what youve already posted. Which pictures have the most likes, which pictures have the most comments? Start with those, be objectivily optimistic when you are critiquing your pictures, if youre too hard on yourself it will almost paralyze you. You need to be able to experiment with different pictures and captions and if youre too critical then you wont try new things.
