Vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble vitamin that is important for calcium absorption and cellular growth. It helps stimulate insulin secretion, modulates the immune system, and may have anti-cancer and anti-aging properties. A 2010 study found that 78% of Pakistani children were vitamin D deficient due to lack of sun exposure, dark skin pigmentation, hepatic or renal failure, and malabsorption disorders. Vitamin D deficiency can lead to rickets, osteomalacia, growth retardation, weak immunity, and weak bones that are prone to fractures.
