Several Tennessee legislators spoke in support of libraries and their importance in communities. They noted that libraries provide valuable resources for children and adults to read, learn, and study. Libraries also play a vital role in society by promoting literacy and offering opportunities for education that can improve people's lives. The legislators were proud to support the Tennessee Library Association and its efforts to advance literacy throughout the state.

Congressman Steve Cohen The library is a special place in every community. Ive always loved reading and learning and have spent many hours in the library as a child and in college and law school. Our libraries are a valuable resource for our children and adults who are looking for a good book or a place to study. Im proud to support the Tennessee Library Association and its efforts to promote literacy throughout our great state.
Congressman Jim Cooper Tennessees libraries should be celebrated for providing an avenue to invaluable learning and reading opportunities. Libraries play a vital role in our society, and I am proud to have the only congressional office in America located in a public library. Our rent helps keep our library strong.
Senator Lamar AlexanderMy mother said that because I had a library card from the day I was three, and music lessons from the day I was four, I was set for life.
Congressman Stephen Fincher Advancing literacy and improving local libraries is a priority for my wife Lynn and me. Libraries offer Americans the opportunity to read and learn, and can open our minds to the wonders of our world.
