At this point in our history, mirrors and light exist in almost every village, town and city on the planet, making this game accessible by just about everybody. It teaches elements of physics- light and refraction- and is great for children, especially, because it involves both chance and skill. It would be trickier, of course, without electricity, but it is certainly possible to be played in spaces without current, as well as in the wilderness.
