Laura Mulvey was a British feminist film theorist known for her essay "Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema" which introduced the concept of the "male gaze". She argued that in classical Hollywood cinema, the camera presents women as objects of male pleasure through shots that emphasize their physical attractiveness. Mulvey believed this objectification reinforces the idea that women are inferior to men and forces female viewers to identify with the male perspective. Her theories provide insight into mainstream music video conventions and how they can be subverted or applied in creating one's own video.

character/Protagonist were all men and also the audiences were
also expected to be male.
