Respondents were assessed on their engagement with social media content, reliance on influencer recommendations, product reviews, advertisements, and overall trust in online promotional materials.
Findings show that platforms such as Instagram (88.3%), WhatsApp (78.3%), and YouTube (70%) dominate user activity among the surveyed participants. The majority of users (86.7%) spend over one hour daily on social media, creating a highly engaged and digitally active audience. Approximately 91.6% encounter personal care-related content at least occasionally, and over half rely on social media to compare brands before purchasing. Product reviews emerged as the most helpful form of user-generated content, followed by how-to-use tutorials and unboxing videos. Authentic reviews that include both pros and cons were found to be the most trustworthy, highlighting a consumer preference for transparency.
The study concludes that social media exerts a moderate but meaningful influence on consumers decisions.
