Sir George Everest first recorded the location of Mount Everest in 1841 and named it Peak XV. It was later renamed in 1865 to Mount Everest to honor him. Mount Everest is located between Nepal and Tibet, stands over 29,000 feet tall, and was first successfully climbed by many notable adventurers including the first woman Junko Tabei and first blind climber Erik Weihenmayer.
