The mouse snuck into the house while the cat was away. Unable to find the cat, the mouse remained until the author picked up a broom, causing the mouse to run back underground to escape. This short rhyming poem follows an ABCB rhyme scheme and describes a mouse entering an empty house until being chased away by a broom.
