This document discusses the results of a school's STaR Chart assessments over three years. It found fluctuations in scores across areas with consistently low scores in infrastructure for technology and online learning opportunities. The educator preparation and development area saw a consistent decline. An analysis committee will investigate the causes of weak areas and provide recommendations to address weaknesses.
The document describes an environmental living program where students stay overnight at Yosemite National Park and assume the roles of historical figures to perform tasks from the 19th-20th centuries like chopping wood and blacksmithing. The main focus is on the history of land management in Yosemite and how current land use issues are similar to those in the past. Students will discuss and experience firsthand what life was like for pioneers to better understand land use decisions over time.
Italy is a peninsula located in southern Europe with mountain ranges and hilly terrain. The majority of Italians speak Italian or an Italian dialect and follow the Roman Catholic religion. Customs include greeting others with "good day" in Italian and kissing strangers on the cheek. Italy is known for its fashion, operas, volcanoes, wine consumption and many museums.
This document provides an introduction to blind source separation and non-negative matrix factorization. It describes blind source separation as a method to estimate original signals from observed mixed signals. Non-negative matrix factorization is introduced as a constraint-based approach to solving blind source separation using non-negativity. The alternating least squares algorithm is described for solving the non-negative matrix factorization problem. Experiments applying these methods to artificial and real image data are presented and discussed.
This document discusses independent component analysis (ICA) for blind source separation. ICA is a method to estimate original signals from observed signals consisting of mixed original signals and noise. It introduces the ICA model and approach, including whitening, maximizing non-Gaussianity using kurtosis and negentropy, and fast ICA algorithms. The document provides examples applying ICA to separate images and discusses approaches to improve ICA, including using differential filtering. ICA is an important technique for blind source separation and independent component estimation from observed signals.
This document contains an English proficiency test with four parts: 1) Oral Expression with conversational dialogs and situational dialogs; 2) Error Identification with identifying incorrect parts of sentences; 3) Reading Comprehension with passages and questions; and 4) Written Expression with correcting errors in sentences. It provides instructions, examples, and answer choices for test-takers to demonstrate their English language skills.
