His first film, Paranormal Activity (2007), was a found footage supernatural horror film written, produced, photographed, edited, and directed by Peli. It follows a young couple haunted in their home and was presented through security camera footage. The low-budget independent film was a major commercial success, earning over $108 million domestically.
