Poverty can be defined as either absolute poverty, referring to a lack of basic human needs, or relative poverty, referring to an inability to maintain living standards customary to one's society. Data shows poverty rates in South Asia range from 23.9% in Sri Lanka to 76.5% in Bangladesh, with Pakistan having one of the highest regional rates at 57.35%. According to a World Bank report, 60% of Pakistan's population lives in poverty, with 21% living on less than $1.25 per day.

poverty.
The international poverty line is $2 a day or an
income Rs 200 per day.
The report shows that 21 percent of Pakistan's
population lives below $1.25 per day i.e. Rs 135 per
day.
