The document discusses the importance of a science library in schools. It provides an overview of the key components and organization of an effective science library. Some main points covered include:
- A science library supplements classroom teaching by providing additional resources to develop students' interests and knowledge in various scientific topics.
- It should contain books on different science subjects, inventions, biographies, hobbies, reference materials, and science magazines.
- An organized science library divided into relevant sections can be a valuable teaching aid for teachers and encourage independent learning among students.
- Developing a library requires considering factors like location, furnishings, types of resources, and financial resources to build a collection that meets curricular needs.
This document discusses the history and forms of pollution. It begins by defining pollution and describing how ancient cultures contributed to air pollution through activities like metal forging. It then discusses acknowledgment of pollution in the Middle Ages and major increases during the Industrial Revolution due to fossil fuel use. Modern awareness of pollution grew after events like the Great Smog of 1952 in London. The document also outlines the main forms of pollution like air, water and soil pollution and their health and environmental effects. It discusses pollution regulation and techniques for pollution prevention and control.
The document describes the key organelles in cells and their functions. It states that the mitochondrion functions in cellular respiration, the golgi apparatus packages and delivers proteins, and organelles are located within the cytoplasm of the cell. It also mentions that the nucleus contains genetic material, lysosomes destroy worn-out cell parts, and the cell membrane controls what enters and leaves the cell.
Air pollution comes from both natural and human-made sources. Some key human-made sources include the burning of fossil fuels for power, heat and transportation, industrial processes, and agriculture. This introduces harmful pollutants like particulate matter, sulfur and nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, and volatile organic compounds into the atmosphere. Air pollution in high amounts can cause adverse health effects like heart and lung disease and cancer. It is also a major environmental concern as it contributes to issues like acid rain and climate change.
Sukanya discusses the structure of a cell. A cell has a nucleus which controls cell activities and is essential for reproduction. A cell contains organelles like mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi bodies, and lysosomes. The most abundant organelle in a cell is the endoplasmic reticulum. Understanding its complex functions is key to appreciating the cell.
The document discusses the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Kerala and the Kerala Curriculum Framework (KCF) of 2007. It provides an overview of SCERT's role in developing syllabi for schools in Kerala and conducting teacher training programs. It also summarizes the key aspects of KCF-2007, including its aims, pillars, and stages of education. The KCF of 2007 aimed to strengthen primary, secondary and higher secondary education in Kerala based on principles of social justice, environmental awareness, citizenship, and more.
This document provides information on various topics related to living corners in schools, including pisciculture (fish farming), bird watching, and rearing animals. It discusses different methods of fish farming such as cage and pond systems. It also describes the history and activities involved in bird watching, as well as methods of rearing birds including parent, foster, isolation, and artificial rearing. The document concludes that living corners allow students to make observations of interdependent plants and animals.
This document contains 10 multiple choice questions about the heart and circulatory system. It asks about the function of the heart, factors that increase heart rate, what pulse rate measures, why exercise increases heart rate, the direction of blood flow in veins and arteries, healthy lifestyle choices, what happens to blood in the lungs, the health risks of smoking, and why not to drink alcohol before driving.
The document is a quiz about the parts of the cell. It asks questions to identify organelles like the vacuole, endoplasmic reticulum, golgi apparatus, mitochondria, chloroplasts, and ribosomes. It also asks about the location and functions of these organelles, such as the vacuole being responsible for digestion, ribosomes making proteins, and the golgi apparatus processing and exporting proteins.
This document discusses various natural resources including ponds, lakes and rivers, forests, and mangroves. It provides details on the ecology and importance of these resources. Ponds provide habitat and food sources for wildlife. Forests store carbon, regulate climate, purify water, and contain biodiversity. Mangroves have adaptations that allow them to thrive in saline coastal habitats. Natural resources are essential but finite, so sustainable use is important.
Cell biologists have several options for delivering exogenous molecules into cells, including chemical and physical transfection methods as well as viral vectors. Recently, new products have targeted difficult to transfect cell types. Exo-Fect transfects isolated exosomes with nucleic acids, which are then delivered to cells. Cellsqueeze is a microfluidic system that mechanically deforms cells to form transient pores for molecule entry without toxicity. Both aim to more efficiently transfect hard-to-transfect cells like stem cells and primary cells.
Roshna Karim presented on innovative strategies for teaching biology that focus on using local methods and technologies in hands-on approaches to make connections between science content, students' environments, and their cultures. The presentation discussed how teaching must include sending and receiving information, and any method that achieves this without compromising objectives can be considered an innovative teaching method.
Powerpoint presentation-Adaptation Of Living Organisms In Its EnvironmentHyacinth B.L.Bensi
Ìý
This document discusses different types of adaptations that help organisms survive in their environments. It focuses on adaptations in animals and plants. There are two main types of adaptations - structural adaptations, which involve physical characteristics like coloration, size or shape of body parts; and behavioral adaptations, which refer to how organisms act and behave. Examples of structural adaptations in animals include camouflage, mimicry and body structures. Behavioral adaptations in animals include migration, hibernation and hunting in packs. Structural adaptations in plants involve physical structures that store water or catch minerals. Seeds also have adaptations to help them survive and grow. All living things adapt in some way to help them thrive in their environment.
