Editor's Notes
#3: Before we start with our listening lesson, lets hear what other occupations come to mind where intensive foreign travel is included? Here I have a list of few (read), can anybody think of any other occupation that would involve traveling to foreign countries? Would you like to have a job like that?
#4: Today were focusing on Research. Why does it involve travel? Because exchanging ideas/techniques and technologies are essential for any research. Ill read the article (say title) to you. Before I start, can you try to guess what is this article going to explore? Write 3 sentences individually about what themes you think might be discussed in this article based on its title and that it was published in Nature. Who publishes in Nature? (wait a bit) Usually very good scientific labs, yes. What type of research might be in question political, financial, or biological? (wait) yes, biological and we know this because Nature publishes biological type of articles, yes. Once you write your sentences cover them up and well check your predictions later.
#5: Read for 4 minutes whole text at a normal pace.
#6: Before I read the text for the 2nd time, have a look at this list of words from the article and their meanings. On the next page, youll see the list of some idioms used. While Im reading try to notice these words and idioms in the text.
