Across the three products
there are a two main
connections that we
identified. These are:
• The autumnal theme
• Toby (the performer)
3. Toby
Toby is the point of focus throughout the music video, advert and
digipack with him being the performer in the video and his photo
being on the front of the other two ancillaries. We used the same
photograph for the ancillaries showing our clear use of synergy.

4. Narrative
In the music video the links of the ancillary products can be
recognized in the performance part of the video but NOT in the
narrative section which is about a lonely man who finally gets
the girl, we show his story through a POV perspective.
I think it was the right decision to not link the ancillaries with the
narrative of the music video because the ancillaries are
promoting the entire album not just one song.
We therefore do not see any locations such as the pub or his
home in the ancillaries.
5. Performance
The music video shows clear links with the
ancillaries in the performance part. The
performance takes place is an autumnal
location with Toby lip syncing to the music
wearing quite dark clothes in contrast with
the bright, strong autumnal colours of the
leaves around him. We wanted to
emphasize the use of leaves because they
were very visually appealing.
It can be linked with the advert and digipak
because Toby is also in this location for the
photographs wearing the same code of
dress as well. This is therefore a clear link
between the main product and the
ancillaries.
6. Ancillaries
By using the same photograph which is a
close up of our main performer in Mote
Park as the main image in both ancillary
products. We have emphasized the use of
synergy and connections between them
both. It highlights both the common
themes we used throughout our products.
You can see in the pictures to the left that
you can identify them as being linked to
one another. Toby is the point of focus
throughout the music video so we thought
it was a good idea to include him as the
point of focus on the ancillary products as
well.
7. Ancillaries (continued)
There is further evidence of synergy in our
ancilleries if you look at the font. The font
used was one we downloaded off the
internet that we thought worked really well
and fitted the the genre very effectively.
We made sure that the text was positioned
in the same place as well to further show
that they products were connected.
Looking at these products I feel that they
look very effective and it is clear that they
are linked and it is obvious that they are
connected.
8. Digipack
Additionally with the digipack we wanted t
link the lyric book to the music video and
we came up with an idea that we could do
this. On each page of the digipack shows a
different letter from the word KODALINE.
Inside the letter is a picture that is in some
way linked to the music video. For example,
the egg and the wine are two objects used
in the music video. This reinforces the links
that are present of the ancillary products
and the main music video. This is a very
strong combination of products in my
opinion.
