PRESS RELEASE: APRIL 01, 2016
ALL-AMERICAN MODEL UN TEAM WINS FIVE CONSECUTIVE CONFERENCES
US BASED MODEL UNITED NATIONS TEAMS WIN IN FIVE COUNTRIES, PROVING THEY MAY
BE THE BEST IN THE WORLD
Cambridge, Massachusetts The All-American Model United Nations teams have won Delegation
Awards, or team awards, at five consecutive conferences around the world: WEMUN Expo (Beijing,
China) in August 2015, Harvard Model United Nations India (Hyderabad, India) in August 2015, Yale
Model Government Europe (Budapest, Hungary) in November 2015, North American Invitational
Model United Nations (Washington, D.C.) in February 2016, and HACIA Summit of the Americas (San
Jose, Costa Rica) in March 2016.
This has been by far the most exciting, most demanding time during our five-year history, All-
American Model UN Program Director and Coach Frank Pobutkiewicz said. Each conference gave
our students a new opportunity to explore a distinct region of the world and learn so much more
than what is possible in a classroom setting.
The All-American Model UN Program accepts students from across the United States to participate
on their honor teams. The teams compete at various international debate tournaments throughout
the year, with a new team selected for each competition. Students are chosen on merit and
accomplishment in similar events in the United States.
Its always a challenge training a new team for each conference. Pobutkiewicz continued, Even
though over 50% of our students participate on multiple teams, each one has a different chemistry,
and different strengths and weaknesses. Interacting with our students is what makes this all
worthwhile.
The 2015-2016 season recently concluded, and All-American Model UN has become the first team
ever to win five consecutive delegation awards at the conferences in which they competed.
The results we saw this year are indicative of the dedication our students have to learning,
collaborating, and improving, Pobutkiewicz explained. I could not be more proud of all of the work
each student has put into making this past year one that I will never forget. Its like I have 35 new
little brothers and sisters.
Applications are currently open on the All-American Model UN website for upcoming conferences.
