This document presents examples of tested and untested play models in the Norwegian North Sea, specifically in Quadrants 16 and 17. It describes 9 different play models involving features such as channels, lobes, faults, stratigraphic traps, and variations in acoustic impedance. The models are illustrated on seismic lines and well logs from an exploratory well, 16/8-1, that was drilled in 1978 and found to be dry. The
well
was
located
to
test
a
thrust-足faulted
structure
in
a
NE-足SW
trending
sub-足basin
to
the
southeast
of
the
Utsira
High.
The
primary
objecEve
was
the
basal
Late
Jurassic
sand.
This
sand
was
esEmated
to
have
an
approximate
gross
thickness
of
71
metres.
The
well
was
drilled
in
1978
and
found
to
be
dry.
