This study evaluated the effectiveness of a family-focused juvenile reentry program called Parenting with Love and Limits (PLL) at reducing recidivism among youth released from residential custody compared to standard aftercare services. Using a quasi-experimental design, the study compared recidivism outcomes for youth who received PLL reentry services versus a matched comparison group who received standard aftercare through a county probation department. This study evaluated the effectiveness of a family-focused juvenile reentry program called Parenting with Love and Limits (PLL) at reducing recidivism among youth released from residential custody compared to standard aftercare services. Using a quasi-experimental design, the study compared recidivism outcomes for youth who received PLL reentry services versus a matched comparison group who received standard aftercare through a county probation department. Youth in the PLL program had significantly lower rates of rearrest and readjudication, with effect sizes ranging from -0.112 to -0.221. Additionally, PLL services were on average 2 months shorter than standard aftercare, suggesting it can serve more clients at a lower cost while improving outcomes.
