Jenna and Pooyan created individual briefs for a client and then discussed combining the strongest elements of each brief into a single negotiated brief. They decided to include Pooyan's more detailed legal and ethical considerations as well as the target audience. Jenna contributed her purpose section and budget details. Their final negotiated brief incorporated the best aspects of both individual briefs to provide comprehensive information to the client.

1. Report on brief
We discussed the brief together to decide what we would include in the final brief. Jenna had a goal,
brief, legal and ethical consideration, requirements, budget, deadline and management. Pooyan had
a background, purpose, negotiating the brief, legal and ethical consideration and constraints which
included: budget, deadline, target audience and constraints regarding legal and ethical
consideration. We discussed what was most important to include. This meant using Pooyan’s written
budget and jenna’s purpose of the brief and the ideas to include in the video. We decided to include
Pooyan’s additional topic to the brief because it helped to better explain to the client what was
required of them throughout the production of the video. We also decided to use Pooyan’s legal and
ethical considerations because they were more in-depth and informative for the brief. Pooyan also
mentioned the target audience, which was not included in Jenna’s brief and because it was
extremely relevant we decided to use it as well.
Jenna included a management section at the end of the brief which pooyan did not include so this
was used in the final brief.
By creating two separate briefs and then discussing the strong and weak points in both we were able
to create a brief that is extremely informative for the client compared to the two separate briefs we
created individually.
Our brief is a formal negotiated brief. We decided to create this kind of brief because it is relevant to
the clientele and the project. We didn’t use informal because it would not give the right impression
to the client. We did not use a contractual brief because this allows the client to have more input
into the final product.
Discussion took place on the 12th of October 2012.
