Thesis:
Human Robot Interaction of an Android Head
Description: The thesis addresses the issues with Human-Robot Interaction of an android head which
deals with neck-eye co-ordination, facial expressions, lip-syncing, target tracking and environment
awareness. A ROS package is being developed which deals with various aspects of an android head
and try and bridge the uncanny valley.
Experience
Accenture Services Pvt. Ltd. November 2010-August2013
Senior Programmer: SAP (HR Module) Automated Quality Assurance and Quality Assurance for mining and
banking domain.
Description:
Created manual test scripts and automated scripts according to the Business Requirements using HP QTP and
HP QC and ensured to make them reusable and flexible for future use. I have also gained functional knowledge
2. of SAP HR Module. During this period I used HP QTP extensively and have gathered immense working
knowledge of the same.
Application Tester certification from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Information Technology Infrastructure Library V3 Certified.
Managed a team consisting of 5 programmers.
University of Texas at Arlington Research Institute July 2014-August2014
Research Assistant: Developing ROS modules to enable Human-Robot Interaction in a mobile robot.
Description:
My responsibilities were to develop ROS nodes to detect human touch and manipulate mobile robots to react so
as to avoid user contact. This included reading values from touch sensors, detecting robot pose and tracking the
TF tree and planning the direction of motion.
Academic Projects
Facial Expression Generation in an Android Head
Description: Facial expression of a human user was tracked and various expressions were recorded. These
features were used to train a neural network classifier. Then the system was used to track and drive an
android head named Philip K. Dicks facial expression depending on the user.
Target Tracking by an Android Head assisted by Multiple Cameras
Description: This project enabled the android head Philip K. Dick to point its gaze towards a desired target
or an object. The advantage of using multiple cameras is to ensure robust tracking of the target. The issue
of neck-eye co-ordination during tracking process is also addressed in the project.
Back-stepping Control of Android Head (PKD) for Neck-Eye Co-Ordination
Description: This project implemented a non-linear controller, i.e. back-stepping controller, in order to
control the neck and eye motion of an android head during the course of target tracking.
Mirrored Prosthetic Arm, Driving the Robo-limb
Description: I was involved in the programming aspect of the prosthetic arm to execute mirrored motions
of the healthy arm. It was based on CAN protocol, flexi-sensors and Linux based system.
Micro-robotics Magnetic Field Base Locomotion Control
Description: The project involved tracking of microscopic elements which were driven by a magnetic field
attached to two linear stages. The project was based on LabView and secured the first position at
International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) 2014, Hong Kong.
Real Time Data Acquisition and Control Systems
Description: Using the FPGA board as a Server and PC as the client, testing the various peripherals of
FPGA by client server interactions through TCP/IP connection.
Embedded Microcontroller Systems
Description: Built a node to operate on bidirectional peer to peer based communication system following
RS 485 protocol. The system is also capable of programming the EEPROM of the microcontroller to
change the device ID when required.
Voice Command Recognizing Robot
Description: Voice Command Recognizing Robot was created as a part of final year project. Controlling a
robot using parallel port is the cheapest way. When integrated with voice it is very easy even for a
differently abled person to control the home appliances using this robot.
3. Augmented Reality
Description: Created a project in augmented reality using Augmented Reality Toolkit. By the use of
Augmented Reality Toolkit, created animation using a camera and a marker, which is cheaper than the
conventional methods.
Multiple Face Recognition using Neural Network
Description: Presented a paper on Multiple Face Recognition and created a demo project using Eigen
faces and neural networks
