Rukmini Vijayakumar began studying Bharatanatyam dance at age eight under Guru Narmada. She has studied acting at the New York Film Academy and is currently pursuing a Fitness Training Certification from UCLA as well as an MFA in Bharatanatyam from Shastra University under Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam. She has made her film debut in Bharathiraja's thriller Bommalattam and was selected to play Rajinikanth's sister in Kochadaiyaan.
