STORY OF RUTH
Ruth
Ruth grew up in the
culture of Moad and
knew nothing of the
God of the Israel.
However, she married
into a Hebrew family
Elimelech and Naomi.
Ruth soon became a
widow with no support
for a stable future.
-Wesley Culpepper
Ruth was encouraged
to stay in Moab with
her birth family, but
refused.
Her famous quote “
where you will go I
will go where you
stay I will stay. Your
people will be my
people and your God
my God.” Ruth 1:16
-Wesley Culpepper
The last quote
really defines her
faith in the God of
Israel.
With those words
Ruth placed her
future in God’s
hands.
She accompanied
Naomi to
Bethlehem.
-Wesley Culpepper
Ruth immediately
went to work to
glean the left over
grain from a land
owner’s field.
Ruth trusted God,
worked, and took
care of her mother in
law in the meantime.
God was working
behind the scenes in
Ruth’s life.
-Will Temple
Ruth didn’t know it
but the field she
had chosen to
glean was owned
by a man named
Boaz.
Boaz protected
Ruth and cared for
her just like Jesus
does for us.
-Will Temple
Boaz and Ruth got
married and became the
grandparents of king
David, the direct
ancestors of David’s
Messiah Jesus Christ.
God continually worked
in Ruth’s life and
brought her close to him
through patience and
guidance.
Without faith it is
impossible to please God
and it is obvious Ruth
was a prime example of
that.
-Will Temple
Spiritual Challenges
(Phillip)
Ruth was a very kind and
generous person.
To help care for her mother-
in-law, Naomi, Ruth uprooted
her life to help care for
Naomi.
She basically had to trust God
to provide for her in an
unfamiliar setting.
Spiritual Challenges
(Phillip)
In Ruth’s life, she was married
at the age of 19. Soon after,
her husband passed away
leaving Ruth in poverty.
Ruth had to provide for herself
to keep a healthy and
comfortable lifestyle.
Despite her association with
the Moabites, Ruth decided to
follow a more righteous path
with God.
“It is striking to observe how
God’s love in Ruth’s life
overcame all obstacles—
poverty, racial prejudice, age
disparity, physical
temptations… (Bible.org)”
Spiritual Challenges
(Phillip)
Although Ruth could have
given him the could shoulder,
she decided to put all of her
trust in Boaz, who treated
her very kindly.
With treating Naomi, Ruth
constantly had to look to
God to help care for not only
herself, but for her loved
ones.
At the end of the day, your
relationship with God and
your family is all that you
have. Have faith and courage
that God will care for you, if
you are willing to trust and
obey.
Verses (Phillip)
Isaiah 10:31 – “but those who
hope in the LORD will renew
their strength. They will soar
on wings like eagles; they will
run and not grow weary, they
will walk and not be faint.”
Deuteronomy 31:6 – "Be strong
and courageous, do not be
afraid or tremble at them, for
the LORD your God is the one
who goes with you. He will not
fail you or forsake you.”
Matthew 10: 26 – “Therefore do
not fear them, for there is
nothing covered that will not be
revealed, and hidden that will
not be known.”
Theme of Ruth
The story of Ruth tells about
how two women remain loyal
to one another in the hardest
of circumstances
“Carry each others burdens,
and in this way you will fulfill
the law of Christ.” –Galatians
6:2
Ruth’s relationship with God
was built on a strong trust
that He was doing what was
best for her

Ruth’s relationship
with God
Since Ruth had a strong
relationship with God, she
possessed many qualities
that Christians are supposed
to have
Our number one job as
Christians is to serve God
before anyone or anything
else
Ruth did this by trusting that
being with Naomi was God’s
path for her and through this
she was able to serve Him in
their friendship

Continued
Another aspect of Ruth’s
relationship with God
exemplified through her
actions was her loyalty to
following Naomi
In the same dedication, she
followed God which made
her a good disciple of Christ
“Then Jesus said to his
disciples, “Whoever wants to
be my disciple must deny
themselves and take up their
cross and follow me.”
Mathew 16:24
