Signs That Your Pet Dog is Suffering
From Fever
It is important to be aware of the signs and
symptoms of fever in dogs.
Feverish dogs may display mild symptoms such
as loss of appetite, lethargy and general
discomfort.
A feverish dog may also have a warm nose or fever spots on their stomachs.
Veterinary clinics offer additional services
such as x-rays & blood tests to help diagnose
fever in dogs.
Fever is a Sign of Your
Dogs Body Fighting an
Infection
Fever is often an indication that your
dogs body is fighting off some kind of
infection or illness.
As soon as fever sets in, their
metabolism will start to increase
and their heart rate may increase
as well.
The process
generates heat,
which raises
their body
temperature as
part of the
attempt to fight
off diseases.
Its important to keep an eye on any fever your
pet may develop & if necessary, contact a vet for
advice.
Consult Your
Veterinarian
If you think that your dog may have a fever, it is
best to contact your veterinarian right away.
They will be best suited to diagnose any
issues & help your pup return to feeling
their best.
Failing to address fever issues early on can
make the illness more difficult to treat.
So be sure to take their temperature & consult with your
vet if you suspect any fever-related ailments.
Medication, Fluids, and Rest
Caring for a sick dog is no easy feat,
and it can be especially difficult if
your furry friend has a fever.
Depending on the severity of the fever, your vet may
recommend giving your pup an over-the-counter
prescription medication.
You should also give your dog plenty of fresh
water to drink & encourage the proper amount
of rest.
You may need to cool down their
environment by running a fan near their
bedding area or by placing cold, wet towels
near them.
