The Cheyenne people relied heavily on buffalo for their basic needs like food, shelter, clothing and tools as they lived on the Great Plains where buffalo herds roamed freely. They faced challenges in finding wood on the open grasslands for fires or building. If one had to travel frequently like the nomadic Cheyenne, it made sense to only carry essential lightweight items.
