- 2. Why Grundtvig? Nikolaj Frederik Severin Grundtvig 8 September 1783 2 September 1872 Most often referred to as simply NFS Grundtvig or just Grundtvig, was a Danish pastor, author, poet, philosopher, historian, teacher and politician. He was one of the most influential people in Danish history. Thinking on education Grundtvig is the ideological father of the School for Life (folk high school) and the School for Passion (university).The popular education should mainly be taught within a national and patriotic horizon of understanding, yet always keeping an open mind towards a broader cultural and intercultural outlook, while the university should work from a strictly universal, i.e. humane and scientific, outlook. He promoted values such as wisdom, compassion, identification and equality.
- 3. Malala Yousafzai (born 12 July 1997) is a Pakistani school pupil and education activist from Pakistan. She is known for her activism for rights to education and for women. At the age of 11 Malala wrote a blog under a pseudonym for the BBC detailing her life under Taliban rule and she was nominated for the International Children's Peace Prize by South African activist Desmond Tutu. On the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, Malala boarded her schoolbus and a gunman fired three shots. One bullet hit the left side of Malala's forehead, traveled under her skin the length of her face and then into her shoulder. In the days immediately following the attack, she remained unconscious and in critical condition, but later her condition improved enough for her to be sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, England, for intensive rehabilitation. In the 29 April 2013 issue of Time magazine, Yousafzai was featured on the magazine's front cover and as one of "The 100 Most Influential People in the World". MALALA and food discrimation in Pakistan
