What do you hope to gain and what do you feel you can contribute by becoming a member of Red &
   White?
By becoming a member of Red & White, I hope to gain invaluable leadership and communication skills while
making a difference in the RPI community. Being an active member in the organization will allow me to voice
my opinion and communicate with other dedicated students so that we can make a difference on campus.
Having the opportunity to associate with RPI alumni will give me the chance to see previous RPI students
thriving in the real world. There is no more valuable resource than our RPI alumni, and Red & White will give
me the chance to reach out to them and help integrate our alumni into events on campus. By becoming a
member of Red & White, I will contribute many of my own great ideas as well as help others develop their
ideas. I’m a reliable, dedicated worker and would love the chance to organize and participate in important events
in the RPI community. I have many skills to offer and feel I would do great representing RPI through the Red &
White organization. I love my school and am proud to be a part of the RPI community and would love the
chance to share that with others.
What has been a leadership experience that has defined you?
During my senior year of high school, I was elected student council treasurer, and it turned into a defining
leadership position in my life. Along with three other fellow students, we set off to lead the student government
starting in the summer before school even started. Our high school sent us to a regional student council
convention, where we met with other students from across the state of Texas in leadership positions just like us.
For five days, we spent all our time working and cooperating with about two thousand other young leaders. It
was an unbelievable experience, getting the chance to collaborate with other students who share the same
dedication. Through numerous leadership workshops and activities, we all helped each other come up with new
projects and ideas to take back to our respective schools. It was an honor and a pleasure to be at the convention
where everyone's sole purpose was to help their fellow leaders become better able to lead their schools. Going
back to school, the four of us felt new respect for the opportunity to lead our school and make a difference. In
the following year, we found great success in all the ideas we had come up with. It had been a long time since
our school had seen so much success in events such as homecoming and projects such as Red Ribbon Week; a
drug awareness and prevention week. I'm glad I was given a chance to go to the convention, to interact with
other leaders, and become a better leader myself. I look back on the experience and know that it has changed
   me for the better.
How did you find out about Red & White?
I found out about Red & White through my 2011 Rensselaer Traditions NRB trip, run by the Red &
White organization.
