February 4, 2012 Subject: Recommendation for Jerome Holland I worked with Jerome Holland for 20 years at Nike. He was a wonderful co-worker and a valued employee. We worked in different locations geographically, he in Memphis and me in Oregon. However we were in regular contact whether it was working on a systems issue that was affecting both our distribution facilities, coming up with new ideas to make our distribution facilities more efficient or implementing new systems. Jerome could always be counted on to do excellent analysis of any situation. Since he started his work day in Memphis two hours before I started mine in Oregon, by the time I got to work, I could always count on Jerome to have already started and often complete the research necessary to understand and solve any problems or issues that affected both our facilities overnight. We often collaborated on projects affecting all Nike's domestic distribution facilities. The most notable was the MARC (Red Prairie) project which was the first time Nike used off the shelf software in their distribution facilities rather than in house programs. Jerome was instrumental in working with the vendor to assure that the software would meet Nike's business needs, testing the software as it became available, creating user documentation and training users. His work was invaluable to the success of the project. If not retired, I would have no hesitation in working with Jerome again professionally.
