Characters of the Story:
Hector Fitzbaudly- a wealthy man and a son of a renowned
  wine merchant. He also, was an adventurous man who wants
  to see what it looks like at the Southside (He used to live in
  the Northside of the city).
Augustus Fitzbaudly- a reputable wine merchant and the father
  of Hector.
Gulliver Truepin- a vicious pauper who swindles people to make
  money. He also is the “Eyeball Collector”.
Polly- she was a very good and concerned friend of Hector.

Baron Bovrik de Vandolin- Gulliver Truepin’s companion. He is
  a rich man and he also mades artificial eyeballs for Gulliver.

Lady Mandible- an eccentric woman who runs a society.

Lord Mandible- is a cripple who loves his harpsichord and cats.
Summary
Hector Fitzbaudly lived in a wealthy home until his wine merchant father is
conned out of his money and status. His father dies of a heart attack. Hector
knows it is from a broken heart. Now Hector finds himself on the south side of
the City in a home for abandoned babies and boys. He is determined to find the
man who blackmailed and conned his father and have his revenge.
Gulliver Truepin has now changed to the eccentric and wealthy Baron Bovrik
de Vandolin. He explains his missing eye as a result of a sword fighting
accident. Now he has eyeballs made for him. He's hoping to earn enough
money to have a different eyeball for each day of the week. He meets up with
Lady Mandible. She is a mysterious woman who runs society. Hector is able to
present himself to the Baron as a butterfly expert. Lady Mandible needs to
have butterflies ready on the day of the Winter Festival. She and her husband
are the hosts this year.
Now Hector is playing a dangerous game for one his age. He wants his revenge
and plans to kill the Baron. But things are odd at the Mandible castle. Lord
Mandible is a cripple who loves his harpsichord and cats. Then the cats
disappear. Lord Mandible is determined to catch a black hairy boar for the
feast. He needs Hector's help to accomplish this. Hector is being pulled
different directions. Plus he can't forget his father's lessons or his friend Polly's
regard for him.

     information about F.E. Higgins


            F. E. Higgins was born in England but raised
in Ireland. F. E. Higgins has been fascinated by the
macabre ever since seeing a ghostly apparition as a child.
Nowadays Higgins travels the lands that these books
describe, collecting strange artifacts and the even
stranger stories behind them. When not in pursuit of a
story, Higgins may be found in a haunted house in Kent,
where a dismembered hand cradles a large diamond on
the mantelpiece.
