Raman is a sign painter who lives with his traditional aunt. He takes pride in his work. Raman meets Daisy, a young liberal woman devoted to family planning and women's issues. She becomes his biggest customer, commissioning signs for family planning clinics. Raman is attracted to Daisy despite differences in their views. He agrees to travel with and help her cause just to be with her. They marry but separate after two days, then go their separate ways.
