Emperor: Kouan-Yu, I want you to make a great bell of such size that
it will be heard for a hundred li. It should be strengthen with brass, and
deepened with gold, and sweetened with silver as well with the
religious engravings and designs.
Kouan-Yu: Yes my Majesty.

He assembled the master moulders and bellsmtihs and all men of
great repute and cunning in foundry work to begin the work. And he
ordered the workers to begin. But, the metals rebelled to each other,
refusing to embrace. So they rekindled the fire ,the metals remelted
and repeated the work tediously and toilsomely.
Worker: Sir Kouan-Yu, it looks like the metals won’t join and embrace
each other.
Narrator: When the Celestial August heard about this, he became
angry but spake nothing.
