This document provides instructions for teachers to create a Twitter-based discussion forum called a "Twub" for their classroom. It outlines the steps to sign up for Twitter accounts, register a unique hashtag to identify the Twub, have students sign in using their Twitter accounts, and use the Twub for real-time discussions and class activities by having students tweet responses.

2. How do I get started?
Go to www.twitter.com
Fill in the boxes to sign
up for an account.
Now you have a Twitter
account!
3. Now, What?
Create a Twub for your
classsroom.
Go to Twubs.com
Click Register Your
Hashtag.
4. Create Your Twub!
Type a unique (but small)
term to identify your
classroom.
Check to make sure no
one else has used that
hashtag.
Register your unique
hashtag to create your
Twub.
5. Sign in to Twubs!
Sign in using your
Twitter account.
DONT fill in the
boxes.
Instead, click
Twitter login.
Authorize Ap the
first time you sign
in.
6. You have your own Twub!
You should see the
title of your Twub
herethe hashtag
you registered.
7. You have your own Twub!
Give students the URL
(web address) of your
classroom Twub.
Students register for a
Twitter account, and
log in to classroom
Twub with their Twitter
accounts.
Then, they simply type
in box, and click Send
Tweet.
8. Tweet Away!
Display classroom
Twub on LCD
projector to show
students tweets in
real time!
9. Have in-class discussions.
Write a response.
Use as an exit slip.
Write a narrative (each student adding the
next 140 characters to the story).
Draw a conclusion from a text.
Make a claim.
Pull evidence from a text.
Generate questions.
Make connections among texts and ideas.
