Underground Part 1
Chaos erupted when news broke that Elutna Hall was under seige.
Everyone looked to The Attic, a government agency that specialized in the city's tunnels, to rescue the royalty and their band of servants.
The pressure was specifically directed towards their leader, Annie Hox.
She busied herself in her office, giving a daunting number of soldiers access to the drop off and watching the security cameras carefully.
Rudy Jackson, her second-in-command, fretted outside her door, pressing his ear against the frame just as she swung it open.
"It's soundproof." She deadpanned, walking ahead of him."Just checking." Rudy followed on her heels.
"Do you have a plan?" he asked, opening a door to an empty room for her."I always have a plan." she lied.
Soldiers piled in from the opposite end of the room, Captain Reynolds leading the group. Rudy dismissed all but four of them.
Annie explained a plan of action while Rudy revealed the parts of the map they needed to memorize and Captain Reynolds assigned roles.
"Ms. Hox, can you lead a team from this passage?" Captain Reynolds asked, pointing to a jagged line, the most intricate and difficult of tunnels to navigate.
"She can, but Ms. Hox doesn't do field work anymore. You know that." said Rudy.
"Commander-in-chief's orders. There are a lot of human lives at stake here, Ms. Hox. A lot of important people's lives."
The second they were alone, Annie and Rudy argued over whether or not Annie should disregard the command.
Of course, Annie won. She insisted it was for the best considering she WAS the best.
Following her plan to the exact second, 5.3 minutes later Annie led a task force to the tunnels.
Rudy's voice buzzed in her ear through her headset."All clear. Proceed underground.""Copy that." Annie replied."Hey Annie," said Rudy, "be careful."
Though Annie frequently checked on the tunnels, it'd been awhile since she'd been on a mission inside them. They seemed scary now, a feeling she hadn't experienced in a long time.
She was careful not to set off any traps.
Not even a second after Annie stopped to assess her team, she felt a rumbling beneath her feet. Rudy's voice came in, more nervous than normal.
"Annie? Annie are you okay? They have access to the northwest tunnel. They just took down task force two. Annie, the enemy is underground."
"We're fine, Mr. Jackson." Annie turned to her soldiers to tell them what happened. They were unfazed...
Until she told them what was going to happen next, straying from the plan."We're setting off the traps on this side of the tunnel.""Have you done this before?" one of the soldiers asked as they got into position on the opposite side.
"No." Annie confessed, stomping on a string."Brace yourselves."
And everything went dark.
