Vinpho is a platform that connects citizen journalists with media organizations. It allows citizens to upload and sell videos and photos of newsworthy events, and gives media a cost-effective way to find graphic images to support their news stories. Vinpho acts as a filter to verify the newsworthiness of citizen submissions. It also offers citizens a broad base of potential buyers and ensures legal and financial safety for transactions between citizens and media. Vinpho's founders are confident both citizens and media will use the platform because it provides citizens opportunities to participate in the news and earn money, while solving the media's need for immediate images and acting as a reliable source of citizen journalism. Intro Good afternoon everybody! My name is Carmen Alfonso Rico and I am a cofounder of vinpho. What does vinpho do? In 6 words: vinpho connects citizen journalists with the media. But let卒s get more specific! And in order to do so I please ask you to open your mind and let your imagination flow. Problem/Story Solution Imagine there卒s a fire. Now imagine you work in the media and you get a teleprinter that informs you there卒s a fire, but you don卒t have any images to support your news. If only you could get in touch with somebody at the scene. Now please change your personality and imagine you are somebody who happens to be close to the fire. What would you do? After calling 911, you卒d probably take out your smartphone and start recording/taking pictures of the fire. What next? Most likely you卒d upload it to YouTube. But what if you realize that the images you recorded are newsworthy and you wanna make some bucks out of them?. If only you could easily get in touch with the media. Why are we so sure both citizens and the media will want to use vinpho? Why are we so sure both citizens and the media will want to use vinpho? Because of the service it provides its users: a) For citizens, vinpho provides an opportunity to i. Be part of the action ii. Get paid for it b) For the media, vinpho provides a service i. First, because it solves a problem: the lack of immediate graphic images to support their news. ii. Secondly, because vinpho will act as a filter of the information value of graphic images uploaded by citizens. What makes us better than our competition? In fact, to be a filter is the most innovative part of our project and what makes us better than our few competitors. We aim to develop a filtering program and a search engine for vinpho to become a reliable and cost-efficient source of graphic information uploaded to the internet by citizen journalists. Moreover, there are two more features that make vinpho different and better than our competition. a) vinpho offers citizens a very broad base of potential buyers for their graphic images, not just one (vs. iReport CNN). b) The citizens and the media will interact without interference. vinpho will just provide the framework that ensures the legal and financial safety and efficiency of the transaction. vinpho 揃 Connecting journalists citizen with the media! 際際滷 9 際際滷 10
How are we going to make money out of it? Now the million $ question: how are we gonna make money out of it? And in the case of vinpho it is such a very easy question to answer. a) vinpho will charge a fee (15-20% of the price paid). b) we卒ll opt to freemium model for citizens and eventually a premium model for the media because of the service provided, ensuring a revenue stream. c) vinpho is easily exportable and expandable and therefore very scalable.
