Voices of community college students
Most people think Im going to community college because Im not smart
but really its all I can afford.
I often wonder if Im really cut out for this.
If I drop out no one will probably even notice.
I feel alone.
No one in my family went to college.
I was recruited to Harvard my junior yearbut Im from Colombia I didnt know what Harvard was and no one told me. So here I am.
I have too much going on in my life.
Im afraid to ask questions because people may see how lost I feel.
Im just not 馨看岳庄厩温岳艶糸.
I dont have enough time.
I dont test well.
I dont know what I want to do with my life.
I guess Im majoring in International Relations because I like to travel
Or maybe just business so I can make a lot of money.
Or Ill just go to medical school because thats what my parents want.
I keep procrastinating and I dont know why.
What is the point of this class?
My professor is so hardbut no I havent asked her for help. Im scared.
Why am I even going to college?
Will I have a job when I get out?
What will my family thing if I get a higher education than them?
Id love to be involved in extra-curricularsbut I dont have a car
I have to work full time to pay for college.
I have to work to support my kids.
I have to work to support my parents.
Id like to do something with my life that helps people but I dont know what that is.
Why is it taking so long for my financial aid to come through?
Is this really worth it?
Will my education make a difference in my life?
Will community colleges make a difference in anyones life?
Yes.
I confronted all these questions when I was a community college student
And I learned
The first step in being successful
is believing that you already are.
Community college students need
And deserve
To feel smart
valued
worthy
motivated
hopeful.
An answer
A solution to help community college students capture
their dreamstheir hopes their motivation
 and complete their degrees
And not just get through community college
But THRIVE
