What you want to be like: Arjun or Eklalavya?
When it comes to Mahabharat, everyone knows about Arjun and Ekalavya. This post is not about
them even but a test to check psychological state of a person. I asked this question to my students as
well in classroom and got interesting answers. Lets try to figure out what can be the answers! In
actual, this question was asked in an interview to the candidates. The interviewer told story to all
candidates and in last asked a question. Here the story goes;
Arjun, as born in a royal family got the opportunity to learn under the guidance of a great teacher
Dronacharya. On the other hand, Ekalavya born in poor family was not allowed to study in that kind
of environment. So Ekalavya established a statue of Guru Dronacharya in the close vicinity, where
Dronacharya teaching Arjun.
Once Arjun was practicing archery in a jungle and aiming at a tree from a distance but whenever arjun
aim for the tree, his arrow goes toward the left side of the tree. He didnt figure out what was the
mistake in his practice. Ekalavya was also aiming for a target but just like Arjun his arrow missed
everytime. Guru Dronacharya came to the Arjun and said You are putting more pressure on your
left foot thats why arrow is going towards left side always. Try to maintain your pressure to right side
a little bit. Arjun did the same and his arrow goes closure to the tree this time. Ekalavaya was
watching this from a distance. He noticed Guru Dronachraya told something to Arjun and because of
that, his arrow pointing towards the aim closure but Ekalavya didnt figure out what he told to Arjun.
But Ekalavya didnt stop practicing and one day he came to the point and figured by himself what
Guru Dronacharya told to Arjun.
Whenever in life, Arjun got the trouble; he always had a teacher around him; First Guru Dronachraya
and then Lord Krishna. But whatever Ekalavya learned and achieved in his life is because of his own,
without the help of anybody.
So now question arises; what you want to be like in life? Like Arjun or Like Aklavaya?
