- 2. Word Problems What are word problems? Math problems that are described in words. Rather than math symbols (+, -, x, /, etc.) words are used.

- 4. Word Problems There are 5 apples, Someone put 3 more (3 are added) How many apples are there? There are 8 apples!
- 5. Word Problems Example: There are 5 apples in my basket. Someone put 3 more in it. How many do I have now? 5 + 3 = 8
- 6. Word Problems Word problems can also be written as a math question 5 + 3 is the same as 5 apples, then add 3 apples.
- 7. Word Problems 10 puppies sat on my sofa. 3 of them ran away. How many are on the sofa now? 10 3 = 7 汲Ran away means that we are subtracting.
- 8. Word Problems There are 4 dogs at the park. 2 more dogs were brought to the park. How many dogs are there now?

- #2: Try adding some pictures/clip art to make the slideshow more fun
- #7: 'Equation' is a hard word -I would re-word this as "Word problems can also be written as a math problem"
- #8: I would make sure to use a transition here so that the answer doesn't come up at the same time as the question when you ask the class
- #9: I would also add a harder question: E.g: Five friends each had 4 pieces of candy. How much candy did they have altogether? And then explain the answer using addition
