The document summarizes the aims of a devised performance piece using mime and comedy. The performance has themes of friendship and bullying portrayed through silent comedy. Mime was chosen because it is unique and challenging. The target audience is families and teenagers, as it will be performed at school. The goal is to amuse the audience and show them how interesting mime can be. The performance style is musical theater since mime has no dialogue; music and lighting will be used to convey meaning. Dramatic possibilities include using lighting effects to create dramatic moments in the piece.

Devised performances
Consider the aims of a devised performance piece of your choice, answering the questions
below.
What is the theme of the piece?
Our performance has a range of themes because we split in groups. Themes of friendship,
bullying, everyday life is presented through silent comedy (mime).
Why did we choose the theme? (E.g. what was it about the theme that excited and/or inspired us.)
We chose our theme, comedy mime because its different and our school doesnt usually perform
mime so its unique and probably even the first mime show. Also from previous drama lessons, no
one from our class has ever studied mime performing so its like challenge for us and way to
develop team working to do this unique performance and make it memorable.
Who is it for? (E.g. family audience, teenagers, pre-school children.)
Our target audience for our performance is family and teenagers as it will be performed in our
school.
What do we want our piece to do? (E.g. shock, amuse, educate.)
As our theme is comedy, we obviously want our performance to make our audience amused and
also have fun and enjoy the show. I also want our piece to show our audience how miming works
and that its an interesting form of drama.
What style(s) of performance will we use? (E.g. naturalism, musical theatre.)
Musical theatre is the style of performance we will use because as we are doing mime there is no
dialogue do our focus is on music and lighting to create clear understanding of the piece.
What are the dramatic possibilities of the piece? (E.g. for plot and character development,
staging.)
We might use this light that creates this shattering effect which can make it a very dramatic
moment.
