The methods employed by Johnston Therapeutic Wound Center have established an impressive record of healing wounds that others thought hopeless, including many that may have required amputation. Carefully researched methods allow patients to receive state-of-the-art treatment of wounds that have resisted healing despite months, or even years of conventional treatment.

Colonoscopy is a procedure where a doctor inserts a thin, flexible tube with a camera into the rectum and colon to examine the lining of the colon for abnormalities. While colonoscopies can detect polyps and cancers early, they require bowel preparation that involves dietary and medication changes to cleanse the colon before the procedure. Colonoscopies are generally safe and well-tolerated, though they may cause some brief discomfort during the exam.

Colorectal cancer forms in the colon or rectum. It is the fourth most common cancer worldwide. Some key points: - Risk factors include age over 50, family history, diet high in fat and low in fiber, smoking, obesity, and inflammatory bowel disease. - Symptoms may include changes in bowel habits, blood in stool, abdominal discomfort, and fatigue. - Diagnosis involves physical exam, stool tests, colonoscopy, biopsy and imaging tests. - Staging determines if cancer has spread from the colon/rectum to other areas. - Treatment options include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and screening to detect polyps before they become cancerous.
