The document provides instructions for using the XDC command in SDSF to save job output or syslog information to a dataset. For job output, the user selects the XDC command against the job name, which opens a menu to specify the dataset name and other options to copy the output. For syslog, the user opens a print dataset with the PRINT OPEN command, specifies the date range with the PRINT command, and closes the print with PRINT CLOSE, which can save to a new or existing dataset.
1. PRINT job output and SYSLOG from SDSF
XDC Command to print job output:
XDC command is used to store the spool information into a dataset.
To save job output to a dataset:
ï‚· Go to SDSF
ï‚· Type XDC against the job name
ï‚· It will pop up a "SDSF Open Print Data Set" menu.
ï‚· Fill in the required fields such as Data set name, Disposition, Space units, Primary
Quantity, etc and hit enter. When it is done copying the data to the dataset, you'll get "Print
Closed" message on the Top Right corner of the screen.
2. To save SYSLOG to a dataset:
1. To print the SYSLOG or part of the SYSLOG to a new allocated data set
ï‚· Go to SDSF
ï‚· Type the PRINT OPEN Command like this: PT ODSN (DATASETNAME) * NEW
Example: PT ODSN P390.SDSF.PRINT * NEW
ï‚· Then type the PRINT command with the date and time for which you need to print the

ï‚· Then type PRINT CLOSE command: PT CLOSE
2. To print the SYSLOG or part of the SYSLOG to a existing data set
ï‚· Go to SDSF
ï‚· Type the PRINT OPEN Command like this: PT ODSN (DATASETNAME) * MOD
Example: PT ODSN P390.SDSF.PRINT * MOD
ï‚· Then type the PRINT command with the date and time for which you need to print the
