I have been working with big data for over a decade now. I love working on the systems that acquire data, store and manage the data, process and compute insights from the data, and make it available for front-end systems to consume via APIs. The systems I have worked on provide the data and insights for use in regular business metrics/intelligence, ad hoc analysis, ads systems, search, and spam detection.
As a compliment to the systems and frameworks, I do the analytical thinking and algorithm work required to analyze and make sense of the data. For this I have had to be very detail oriented and ensure that I have an in-depth understanding of the data.
