Khairul’s research interests are in the study of biochemistry and cell biology in particularly on host and pathogen interactions. He is interested in fundamental aspect on how the organism can cause disease and identify the mechanisms in the quest for appropriate therapy for applied research. For his PhD project, he was focused in GLYCOMIC platform by using polysaccharide and Heparin as an adjunct or alternative therapy to inhibit and reverse the process of Plasmodium falciparum adhesion to endothelial cells to ensure that these parasites re-circulated and can be killed by antimalarial drugs.
