Larry Page and Sergey Brin met at Stanford University in 1995 and created a search engine called Backrub in 1996. They realized that a search engine based on PageRank, which analyzes the link relationships between websites, would produce better search results than existing techniques. In 1998, they received $25 million in funding, incorporated Google, and moved their offices to Palo Alto. Google grew rapidly over the years, launching major products like Gmail, Google Maps, Android, and YouTube. It also made major acquisitions like Motorola Mobility and YouTube. Today, Google has over 50,000 employees working in over 40 countries and a net worth of around $200 billion.
