I've just finished studying maths at Newcastle University, where I got a Pass grade 鈥� which is the lowest grade of degree possible. I initially wanted to study physics in order to understand how this world/universe actually works, but found I enjoyed, and was better at, maths when I did my A-levels. What I have learned is that using abstract maths may allow you to calculate the correct answer (i.e. quantum mechanics), but it in NO WAY enables you to understand the world. Mathematicians actually understand less of the world than physicists, and physicists don鈥檛 understand it much 鈥� see the Time docum
